Let's Get This Over With

Well, here I am. Making a blog. Something I never really wanted to do. I'm not holding back on this, I really don't enjoy blogging. But I suppose that I'd have to at some point. So forgive my initial bitterness, hopefully it'll fade over time.

My name is Tuvya David Maeir. I am in the class of 2015 at Sharon High School, and while the first however many posts are for a Media Awareness class, I may extend this into other purposes. Emphasis on may.

Above all else, I am a gamer and an actor. Granted I don't get to go to any gaming conventions out of state (meaning none whatsoever until the upcoming one this August) and I don't get many opportunities to act. But I am an amateur voice actor, writing my own scripts for various projects, and I am also a Nintendo gamer. (Yes, I'm a Nintendo gamer in America. I'm a minority and proud of it.) I am an Orthodox Jew, I'm an Alopecian (I coined the term myself), I have a few medical issues, but other than that I'm about as regular a guy as it gets. (...That really doesn't mean all that much, now that I think about it...)

A few things I am looking forward to in the Media Awareness course this blog was created for are as follows.
First off, I consider this my strong suit in many areas, and I feel my experiences in various forms of digital non-social media can only be enhanced. (Social media, on the other hand, I do not have nor do I ever want to have. Which is one reason I do not like blogging.)
Second, I feel like with as much mass media as I pay attention to, such as movies and primetime television, I should know a lot of the behind-the-scenes info.
And lastly, it will be refreshing to have a social studies class that actually interests me. Admittedly I was interested in my Psychology course from the first semester, but my experiences with social studies courses until then was, to say the least, traumatizing. This will be a nice change of pace.

That's all I have to say for now. I'll blog you all later!

  1. Social Studies courses can be brutal, but they can also be eye opening! Media can be so overwhelming but I agree, this class can help uncover all that and we can explore all the forms that we already do take part in and look in deeper and deeper

  3. Tuvya- I also wonder-- despite the fact that you don't like social media, can you try to understand it better? Part of becoming more "media aware" is removing your judgments about like/dislike and assessing and analyzing the facts. I hope that you can learn something about its use that you didn't know before!
